Congratulations to Katie O'Brien on receipt of the Shirley W. Bourquin Memorial Scholarship award from the Rye FSC Founders Fund!
This biennial scholarship was established to honor long-time Rye FSC president Bourquin's passion for encouraging the mastery of skating skills and a lifelong commitment to the sport of figure skating. The award recognizes Rye FSC home club members who demonstrate a similar passion for figure skating.
Katie, a Rye FSC home club member for over 12 years, is recognized for her passion as a freestyle competitor and steadfast commitment to the sport of figure skating. Katie is a double gold medalist in moves in the field and freestyle. Katie was a founding member and past president of the Rye FSC Junior Board, has volunteered in numerous skating-related activities, and will matriculate at Indiana University in Fall 2023.
