Shirley W. Bourquin Memorial Scholarship Awarded

Congratulations to Katie O'Brien on receipt of the Shirley W. Bourquin Memorial Scholarship award from the Rye FSC Founders Fund! This biennial scholarship was established to honor long-time Rye FSC president Bourquin's passion for encouraging the mastery of skating skills and a lifelong commitment to the sport of figure skating. The award recognizes Rye FSC home club members who demonstrate a similar passion for figure skating. Katie, a Rye FSC home club member for over 12 years, is recognized for her passion as a freestyle competitor and steadfast commitment to the sport of figure skating. Katie is a double gold medalist in moves in the field and freestyle. Katie was a founding member and past president of the Rye FSC Junior Board, has volunteered in numerous skating-related activities, and will matriculate at Indiana University in Fall 2023.
